What Is A Frugal Lifestyle?

So what is a frugal lifestyle? There is a lot of controversy out there regarding this question, because some people mistake being frugal for just plain cheap. There are actually places where people discuss the way they use the rainwater they collect to do everything from watering plants to flushing their toilets.

Being frugal is not about washing out your plastic bags and reusing them. It isn’t even about grinding your own wheat or collecting rainwater. (Even though these are good things to do.) Being penny wise is about thinking before you spend, and conserving what you do have. Frugal also means being smart about saving your money and managing what finances you do have.

Learn to Be Penny Wise

Being penny wise, doesn’t mean you will have to do without, or live poorly. In fact it is quite the contrary. It is about conserving what you do have, and about saving money and managing your finances. In order to maintain a frugal lifestyle, every household has to look at their own situation and then decide where they should or could become more frugal. Penny wise shoppers are careful, and actually make very wise decisions, finding high quality food, clothing, and goods for less money.

Frugal living is about reducing what you spend, living within your means, using what you have. It also means taking care of your belongings, including your money. It is about making personal and family goals and working to reach them.

Ask yourself these two questions…”Which kind of a person do I want to be?” The person who decides when and where to spend his money? Or… The person whose money is spent before he makes it? I know which one I would choose, how about you? Start working toward a new lifestyle and become a penny wise shopper and you will reap the benefits for you and your family.
